We had a great second round of Chitter Chatter talks with the illustrator Marcus Marritt on the 21stof November. In his talk, “from this to that”, he gave great tips and tricks about starting out and everyday working life.
He talked about how his love of football turned into illustration and how that led him to commissioned work. Football is a key aspect of Marcus’ work, but he has also created a large range of editorial illustration which use colour and texture to add dimension.
Marcus also talked about how creatives can use everyday life to push design concepts and work, pointers for interning, getting paid for illustrative work and good places to find live briefs to build up your portfolio. He also went on to talk about the importance of personal work that he undertakes in his free time that has actually lead to several job opportunities.
This Chitter Chatter gave us great insights in how to work with a style creatively and being able to work efficiently day to day.
